Do you know what runs on a working mom's mind!
The grass is always greener on the other side, they say. May be true, maybe not..
As a working mom, I have hundreds, no, actually thousands of thoughts running on my mind throughout the day. Most of them are about 'How I wish..How I wish.." . Well, maybe a stay at home mom is also thinking in similar lines from home.. so, what all are those wishes that spring up now and then in a working mom's mind?
As she drives to office, she sees a young mom carrying her child on her hip an walking on the road..She thinks "How I wish I could do that walk with my little one everyday!"
As she drives down a little further, she sees another mom holding her child's hand, and walking him to school with his school bag hanging from her shoulder. She thinks "perhaps, kutty chellam also would love to walk to school like that with me.."
As she reaches office, as usual with a ten to fifteen minutes delay, she thinks "I wonder if the breakfast I fed her today was enough..Did she eat well or did I hurry her up?"
She logs into her system, checks emails..Then she thinks to herself , "I must create an email ID for kutty chellam, and send her emails on how she must live her life, how she must learn to love herself..And give her the password she grows up..Well..I must...Huh..Will I find time or just let it become yet another unachieved task..".. Oh, uh oh..Meanwhile she just forgot her own password..Well, effect of too many things in the head.
When she checks notifications on facebook, there pops up a sponsored post.. SUMMER CAMPS for kids.. she thinks "If not for my job, I would be able to take her for summer classes, be around and bring her back home .. and enjoy the summer holidays together". She just can't depend on others and expect her support system to become a photocopy of her thoughts, right? Well, compromise wins the game again.
When she goes for an evening snack, and as munches on, she thinks " I wish I could make kutty chellam's favourite evening snacks everyday when she comes back from school and serve it hot...Instead of being here alone...". Well, push the idwa to weekends as of now.
When she sees other moms make different kinds of delicacies for their kids for lunch everyday (of course through social media posts), she thinks "I am not good enough..I must do more research on nutritious recipes..Must make millet based breakfast this Saturday..Uh oh..Do I have stock of that barnyard millet..No I guess..Need to buy on the way back home in the supermarket..Kutty chellam will love it.."..Then she takes a small break to bookmark few recipes..Then, back to work.
When she comes across those parenting blog sites, she thinks "I wish I could organise my time better,to find some gap and blog what is on my mind..Then I will be able to .. need to kick-start it back tonight.." ..And mostly she ends up crashing on the bed even before she realises that she is sleepy..
When she sees other successful mom entrepreneurs, she thinks " if they can do this, why can't I ? Should I start giving it a serious thought.. then i will be able to spend more time with kutty chellam.. or is it not as fantasized as it sounds to be?". She begins listing what all kinds of businesses will suit her..Then she is reminded of the 'real deadlines',so she dumps her thoughts and moves to work like a robot.
Well, this is just a small sneak peek into a working mom's head..Each mom is different and deserves a salute. But being a working mom, I take a little bit of a biased side.. we may look like women with lot of confidence, freedom, luxury, comfort (we infact are) and sometimes stone-hearted to leave the child and go to work..But inside, not a single second passes by without the thought of our child or that yearning to be with our little one.
So, more power to you,my dear working mom! :)
