The Latest 'Inside the Box' Idea in Town!

It was the festive season. Nilanka was busy cleaning up her house. She was dusting every nook and corner. She was already pressed for time as her brainchild start-up Oyila had just taken off a few months ago. She had some orders to be completed and delivered. But, she couldn't keep her mind off from the cleaning work as she loved order, symmetry and a neat ambience. Probably that is why she excelled in her business in a short period after the launch of 'Oyila'. She had numerous happy customers, mostly mommies who had ordered gorgeous frocks and gowns for their kids' birthdays and special occasions.

Although Nilanka was pursuing her passion, she had always wanted to do something different and 'out of the box'. She knew that she had tough competition in the space that her business was operating in. Making customized apparels had become the latest fad in the boutique business segment. She was just waiting for that spark to hit her, for her 'eureka' moment that would take her to a zone where she could set foot as 'one of the firsts'.

As she was dusting off the windows in her bedroom, she heard 2 voices from the loft. She began to listen keenly.

Voice 1: Well..all of us get lucky only once in a year.. people dust us up, move us from our places and help us get some fresh air.. Thanks to the festive season..

Voice 2: You don't say that.. You get used atleast twice or thrice a year when the people in the house go for vacations. Look at me. I settled here nearly 30 to 40 years ago. I haven't been able to move even half an inch from my place. People don't even remember me.

Voice 1: I pity you. Sorry about that. I am not sure how I can help. I can even see that you have some rust in a few places. Maybe you should just break down and make people notice you.

Voice 2: I am not sure about that because I house the most cherished possessions of someone in this house. People may not remember me, but I hold all their memories.

Voice 1: You are right! You are actually a treasure. You are old but you have the power to surprise people with their own long forgotten memories and things they have used before many years in life. I wish people realise your value and help you get some fresh air too!

Nilanka had figured out who the voices belonged to. It was a conversation between her travel suitcase and her mother's iron'petti' that her mom brought from her native when she had got married. It was the 'trunk-petti', the box that held treasures for years together. That was Nilanka's 'eureka' moment. Thus was born Oyila's latest 'out of the box' idea that fits 'inside the box' - 'Trunk Petti', petite love in a petti.

I recently won one of the first 'trunkpettis' that Oyila was making, as part of a Facebook giveaway. We received it yesterday and it is nothing but a 'box of delight'. Unboxing a gift has always been exciting for each one of us. With 'TrunkPetti', this has just got better and better.

The concept is pretty interesting. The box is an ensemble of goodies customized for the customer as per their preferences. Nilanka has come up with this amazing idea where she sends out a questionnaire to the customer asking their preferences for the child - whether you want a frock or a lehenga, what is your child's favourite cartoon character, etc. She even goes the extra mile to know if you want a flowing type of dress or a grand shiny design.

In a beautifully hand-written card, Nilanka impresses us with this product and the meticulous planning that has gone into it. The lehenga that I had preferred was a perfect fit considering that nilanka used only my daughter's photograph and dress size as reference. I must definitely appreciate her skill in making a gorgeous outfit for Dhwani in just about a week's time.

She had added a hand-made photo frame neatly packed, with a hanging butterfly lantern. There was also a brilliant activity based item inside - Behaviour chart where you can stick hearts (hand made again using felt paper) everytime your child displays good deeds. There was a cute pencil too.

The best and most exciting part is that this is not a standard template of what goes into the box. Nilanka's Oyila will send out unique trunkpettis to each customer and the contents of the box will be a surprise. After all, who doesn't love surprises? Dhwani and I definitely had the time of our lives when we unboxed our trunkpetti.

This is absolutely a brilliant idea, a unique one indeed. Above all, there can't be a better gifting idea than this 'TrunkPetti'. By the way, the price will totally surprise you! This latest 'inside the box' idea in town is available at a really flattering price!

Three cheers to Nilanka Corera from Tuticorin and 'Oyila', her start-up for reviving the precious 'Trunk-Petti' and the nostalgic memories attached to it, for all of us especially our kids. All you smart mommies out there, don't miss to try out this box of happiness once it is rolled out for ordering on Oyila.

You can look up Oyila's collections on this page: https://www.facebook.com/oyilastyles/
