An Evergreen Love Story

It was the first day at school. Children were walking in with mixed emotions. Vihaan also walked in with the same puzzled expression on his face like most kids. By the time he reached his classroom, he had realised that for the next few months, this place would be his 'hang out spot' during the day. He looked around to see if he could find some like minded friends with whom he could make his days ahead more interesting. But every other kid was busy with his or her own emotions on first day of school.

The first few months at school, Vihaan was not very enthusiastic. He hadn't found a friend yet. Then came that day which he didn't imagine would be the most unforgettable day of his life. 'She' came in to school. She was too little, as much as him, infact much younger. But he admired her just at first sight. The person who brought her to school, found Vihaan to be a smart boy and hence told him that she would be his friend in school hereafter and he will have to take care of her. Vihaan got too excited. He now had someone whom he could talk to, and make his school memories interesting.

She sat in one corner of the classroom, quite far away from where Vihaan was. Yet, during every break Vihaan walked to her to say Hi. When she looked sad or tired, he would offer her a glass of water from his bottle. Vihaan never went to his place every morning without checking on how she was feeling. During snack break, he would make time to go and sit next to her. When he felt bored or sad, he would keep sharing lots of stories to her. He wasn't sure if she listened to his stories, but he kept telling everything with her.  She was also too happy that someone was giving her company so lovingly and it would show in her brightened face everyday.Even after going home in the evening, he would keep talking to his mom about her.

Soon it was vacation time. The next two months, Vihaan wouldn't be going to school which meant that he wouldn't be able to see her daily. The last day at school was hard for him. He would miss her a lot. He had already started feeling as if she was his own.

The first few days of vacation were too boring without her. As he was eating breakfast, Vihaan would keep wondering what she would be doing at that time. One evening, Vihaan walked on his own to the school and stood there outside the gate, trying to peep in. The security guard asked him why he was at the gate, a week before school reopened. Vihaan wanted to meet his teacher. The guard let him in. He wasn't surprised when he saw 'her' amidst a bunch of other girls sitting inside the school, all smiles. He felt as if she smiled more when she saw him there. Vihaan walked to his teacher and asked her if he could take 'her' with him to his house that day. The teacher felt reluctant. The teacher said that she was being taken care of so well inside the school itself. But he insisted on his wish and the teacher had to agree. Vihaan's happiness knew no bounds.

The teacher went and brought her and handed over her to him. Vihaan held the fresh green palak planted in a pot in his hand with gleam on his face. He was going to take 'her' home.

He recollected the day when she came in at a very young stage along with Archana akka of myHarvest, to his school. He recalled the moments when he felt excited to have found a 'green friend' for lifetime. Now he was taking her home to look after her right like how he used to do while in school. With much pride and joy, Vihaan walked back home with his pot of palak keerai, grown by him with utmost care. Now he could continue to realise his dream of growing his own greens at home.

Vihaan had found a green companion in her for a lifetime.
