Kulfi's Day Out

Ting Ting Ting Ting!!!!

If you hear those bells ringing close to midnight, you automatically recognise who it is. The kulfi vandi with a blue container covered with a red cloth on top. A young skinny fellow pedalling away on the street. He never calls out because the bell says it all.

Kulfi has always been a night person.

Like how we always have the curiosity and excitement to explore the city in the midnight, did you know that kulfi had its own desires too?

A huge icecream factory owned by a business giant. Workers were toiling day and night to churn out the best ice creams. It was scorching summer and sales was also hot.

Deep inside the factory, the ice creams had their own kingdom. Cup ice, cone ice, stick ice, candy ice, casatta, ball ice, everyone had their own leaders. There were gangs of friends too. One day, all the ice cream friends were sitting and chatting away to glory. Almost every type of ice had seen how the city buzzed with activity during the day. They had seen the world of people and kept boasting about it to everyone. The Kulfi gang always felt left out. They never got to see the busy world. All they saw was darkness, very few people and the only sound they kept hearing was that of the bell. The other ice creams made fun of kulfi that they were destined only to darkness.

One fine day, someone came into the factory and threw open a proposal to the owner that he wanted to sell kulfis in the daytime. The Kulfi gang overheard the conversation and jumped with joy. One kulfi slightly broke his sticky leg as he jumped. But nevertheless they were going to see the day. They would get to roam the streets and see the world.

The owner agreed and kulfi production started multiplying. The kulfi gang inside the factory kept hearing that they were the talk of the town now. But soon they started complaining because it was too hot during the day and they were easily melting away. They felt they were done with the day. They went to their gang leader to complain but he couldn't do anything about it. They started praying to their God, who else other than the moon ..whom they were used to ..The God of the night time.. The Chand.. they prayed for a solution..Where they wouldn't melt away and also would get to enjoy seeing the city. Atleast if not for them, their future generations of kulfi shouldn't suffer, they said.

Soon, their prayers were answered by the Chand. The kulfi gang heard news that the Chennai city's kulfi business was being taken over by storm by someone called LalChand. They knew that it was their prayers to their God Chand.

They heard someone talking about how LalChand Kulfis didn't melt away like the usual ones that had more of water content than real flavor. The kulfi gang thanked their Chand God for giving a good future for their kulfi generations. Even if they weren't able to escape their place, the kulfi gang was happy that the legacy of kulfis had gone into safe hands.

Let me share my personal first trial review of LalChand Kulfis.
What is special about LalChand? LalChand Kulfis promise kulfiness to everyone, to beat the heat this summer.

And you ought to believe me when I say not a single drip from the kulfi as I relished it till the last lick. It simply means that the ingredients are real and rich, and we aren't deceived with excess water content.

I had the malai flavor costing just Rs.35 which felt as if i was eating a chilled rich malai sweet. I am convinced that the other flavors will be the same quality.

The entire 12 minutes for which I ate the malai kulfi from LalChand Kulfi was pure bliss.

Pure value for money, in fact more value for money than you expect.

I will check out their other flavors too very soon! Why don't you join me?

Order over phone or walk into a Kolapasi takeaway outlet.
